‘The Ship’ has held such name since the 18th century in one form or another and has been under our ownership since the early 1990s. Parkgate is one of those places that seems to change very little over time and from historic photos it can be seen that other than a few retailers and provisioners that move on or change their name, the Parade remains instantly recognisable. We feel this untouched, almost timeless feel to Parkgate is what gives the place its charm.
We have remained true to the Ship’s origins as an inn for refreshment for those visiting or living in Parkgate and a place to rest a weary head for those travelling from further afield. ‘The Ship’ as we are affectionately known, has taken a journey over the past twenty years blossoming into the busy and bustling inn with rooms that it is today. We are proud to have received a 3 star accreditation from the Visit England tourist board for the past three years as well as featuring in the AA Good Pub Guide and CAMRA Good Beer Guide for a long time.
Our reputation for good fresh wholesome food has grown year on year with visitors coming from near and far to try our beer battered fish and chips, our potted shrimps and our Sunday roasts! Couple this with some fantastic local ales such as the popular Brimstage brewery’s“Trappers Hat” or our great selection of world wines and you have a winning formula.
The Ship has a popular heated sun terrace at the front overlooking The Parade, perfect for the warmer British months. Unwind at a table and enjoy the breathtaking views, a spot of bird watching perhaps or just sit back, relax and watch the world go by. We also have a number of tables and chairs to the side of the pub to shelter you on those not so still days.
Our pub has WIFI throughout so please just ask a member of the team for the code.
We have a large free car park for customers. There is a barrier at the entrance to our car park, please just pull up to it and it will open automatically.
There is wheelchair access to the pub via a ramp from the car park. By all means please call ahead and let us know that you are coming and one of our team will happily be on hand to assist with the doors should you need it. We apologise but we do not have a specific disabled toilet although our toilets are on ground level.
No Dogs Inside
Dogs are welcome on our outside terrace but unfortunately not in the pub. Please just ask a member of the team if you cannot see a water bowl and would like a drink for your dog. Feel free to make us the last port of call on your walk, there’s always some treats and dogs drink for free!
