Our selection of real ales comes from near and far with many regular and guest ales coming from local breweries and microbreweries. A favourite amongst our regulars is the popular “Trappers Hat” ale which comes from Brimstage Brewery less than 15 miles away.
We have a premium choice of lagers on our bar including: Heineken (5.0% ABV), Fosters (4.0% ABV) and Becks (4.0% ABV). As well as a special German beer, Erdinger (5.0% ABV), a wheat beer which is a particularly refreshing drop.
Our bar features some well known ales as our regular beers:
Local Brimstage Brewery’s Trappers Hat bitter (3.8% ABV) – The first brew of this slightly floral, golden coloured ale took the top award at the Camra Wirral Beer Festival. A refreshingly hoppy session beer. Gold coloured with a complex bouquet, it provides a mouthful of fruit zest, with hints of orange and grapefruit. This was our first brew and remains the most popular having won several awards.
Pedigree (4.2%) – This is quite a dark, golden/amber beer with a cream coloured head. Pedigree is brewed in wood, spending time in oak casks. There’s nothing obviously oaky about the nose, which has some soft malty notes, just a hint of marzipan and a touch of rice pudding. On the palate it is creamy and quite full-textured, with a luxurious mouthfeel and very silky flavour.
We also like to feature various guest ales sourced to compliment our regular beers. If you are not sure which beer you would like then please just ask a member of our team to try a sample or for some advice.
Regular breweries that we like to feature are:
Brimstage Brewery (Barnston, Wirral)
Spitting Feathers Brewery (Waverton, Chester)
Perless Brewery (Birkenhead, Wirral)
Wem Brewery (Wem, Shropshire)
