Christmas Celebrations

We’re sure that most people aren’t thinking about Christmas yet but there are some organised folk out there who like to get things booked well in advance! Over the past couple of months our team of chefs have been working hard to put together a delicious Christmas menu for this year.

Christmas Menu

Our 3 course Christmas menu has been carefully created by our talented team of chefs to include some new and exciting dishes alongside the traditional Christmas favourites.

Our Christmas menu will run from Friday 29th November to Sunday 22nd December 2019 alongside our normal menu.

Starters

Celeriac, leek and potato soup finished with focaccia croutons and hazelnut shavings (v,vg)
Confit of Gressingham duck leg with a black cherry & port sauce and a fennel, pear and roasted walnut salad
Home cured gin, beetroot and dill salmon with rocket, spinach, lilliput capers and radish salad finished with lemon & cucumber dressing and wholemeal bread
Tarragon and sage herb crusted pulled belly pork with bubble and squeak cake, caramelised apple chutney and artichoke purée
Mini Asian platter with cauliflower & potato samosa, pak choi & beansprout spring roll and vegetable fritters, served with mint & cucumber raita and mango chutney (v,vg)
Warm stilton, crispy smoked pancetta and fig salad with mixed leaves, pomegranate and balsamic dressing

Main Course

Traditional roast turkey crown, pigs in blanket, chestnut & thyme stuffing, honey roasted parsnips, duck fat roast potatoes and pan roasting gravy
Slow cooked shoulder of lamb wrapped in leeks & Prosciutto ham with a honey, mint & redcurrant sauce, rosemary Parmantier potatoes, and crispy sage leaves
Pan fried red snapper seasoned with chilli, garlic and ginger, fresh egg noodles, pak choi, peppers and cashew nuts, finished with a warming soy, star anise cinnamon and sesame sauce
Oven roasted cauliflower steak marinated in a cumin and madras paste with a fruity coconut curry sauce, lime & herb cous cous and roasted sweet red pepper (v,vg)
Braised feather blade of beef in a rich marrowbone and red wine gravy, served with shallot mash & carrot and parsnip crisps
Roasted chestnut, spinach and butternut squash risotto with crispy kale and vegetarian Parmesan cheese tuille (v,vgo)

All mains are served with buttered sprouts, cauliflower, carrots and broccoli.

Homemade Desserts

Traditional luxury Christmas pudding with homemade brandy sauce
White chocolate and berry pavlova with cassis glazed winter berries and a rich white chocolate sauce
Ginger and clementine cheesecake with orange & clementine sauce and chopped pistachios
Rich chocolate and raspberry torte with honey pouring cream
Spiced apple & sultana strudel finished with cinnamon sugar and served with rum & raisin ice cream
Prosecco strawberry trifle with fresh strawberries, crème anglaise, whipped cream and toasted flaked almonds
Selection of Manor Lodge cheese served with grapes, crackers, celery sticks and a winter chutney (£2.50 supplement)

2 courses – £20.95      3 courses – £25.95

Booking

Booking is required when dining from our Christmas menu.  Christmas bookings must be made by telephone or in person ONLY, they cannot be booked through our online system.  Please call 0151 336 3931 to check availability and book your table now.

The pre-order is required no less than 14 days before dining.  A non refundable deposit of £10 per head is required at the point of booking.  Please return the pre-order form to info@the-shiphotel.co.uk or pop it into the pub.

We will happily suggest some options for wines and champagnes if you would like to organise these in advance of your party, please just ask if you want some help choosing!
