Christmas celebrations

Join us at The Ship this December for a fantastic festive celebration. Christmas is a time to relax, have fun and catch up with friends and family, so why not do all of this over a delicious meal at the Ship?  With our festive guest ales, mulled wine and christmas treats, the Ship really does get that Christmas sparkle in the atmosphere!

Christmas Menu

Our 3 course Christmas menu has been carefully created by our talented team of chefs to include some new and exciting dishes alongside the traditional Christmas favourites.

Our Christmas menu will run from Friday 30th November to Friday 21st December 2018 alongside our normal menu.

STARTERS

Roasted parsnip &ginger soup finished with toasted almonds and served with a warm cob of bread (v)
Smoked salmon & celeriac remoulade, lemon, caper & dill dressing with a rocket and parmesan salad garnish
Smoked cheddar & leek tart, roasted vine cherry tomatoes and balsamic dressed mixed leaves salad (v)
Duck, brandy & orange terrine with ciabatta croutes, ginger and plum chutney
Goats cheese, mulled pear & candied pecan salad, wild rocket and a honey & wholegrain mustard dressing (v)

MAIN COURSE

Traditional roast turkey crown, pigs in blankets, chestnut, apple & sage stuffing, duck fat roasted potatoes, Chanteney carrots, buttered sprouts & pancetta with pan roasting gravy
Grilled fillet of hake, braised fennel, buttered kale, new potatoes with a Menai mussel & tarragon cream sauce and pea shoot salad garnish
Portobello mushroom, baby spinach and caramelised onion wellington served with seasoned mixed herb roast potatoes and finished with a wild mushroom and madeira sauce (v)
Braised feather blade of beef in a rich ale and marrowbone sauce served with roasted shallots, horseradish mash potato, Chantenay carrots and tenderstem broccoli
Roast belly pork with braised red cabbage, celeriac purée, fondant potato, caramelised apple wedges and a cider cream sauce
Oven baked sweet potato, roasted garlic and leek risotto topped with parmigiano shavings and fresh arragula leaves, finished with a crispy cheese tuille and pickled walnuts

HOMEMADE DESSERTS

Traditional luxury Christmas pudding served with homemade brandy sauce
“Boozy trifle” – Sponge fingers soaked in sherry with strawberries, crème anglaise, fresh cream and toasted flaked almonds
Black forest fool – classic black forest gateau topped with fresh cream and grated spiced Belgian chocolate
Clementine and gingerbread cheesecake with cinder toffee ice cream
The Ship’s cheeseboard – a selection of cheese from “The Chester Cheese Shop” served with grapes, crackers, celery sticks, quince jelly and a bramley apple & walnut chutney (£3 supplement)

Booking

Booking is required when dining from our Christmas menu.  Christmas bookings must be made by telephone or in person ONLY, they cannot be booked through our online system.  Please call 0151 336 3931 to check availability and book your table now.

The pre-order is required no less than 14 days before dining.  A non refundable deposit of £10 per head is required at the point of booking.  Please return the pre-order form to info@the-shiphotel.co.uk or pop it into the pub.
