Christmas Celebrations

Join us at The Ship this December for a fantastic festive celebration. Christmas is a time to relax, have fun and catch up with friends and family, so why not do all of this over a delicious meal at the Ship?  With our festive guest ales, mulled wine and christmas treats, the Ship really does get that Christmas sparkle in the atmosphere!

Christmas Menu

Our 3 course Christmas menu has been carefully created by our talented team of chefs to include some new and exciting dishes alongside the traditional Christmas favourites.

Our Christmas menu will run from Friday 27th November to Wednesday 23rd December 2020 alongside our normal menu.

Starters

Winter vegetable broth with pearl barley, thyme dumplings and crispy kale (v, gfo)
Creamed portabello and oyster mushrooms with Stilton, spinach, crisp smoked bacon and ciabatta toast (gfo)
Grilled sea bass fillet with tomato and basil chutney, toasted olive bread, lemon, garlic and caper butter (gfo)
Sticky Chinese style pork belly with Asian greens, crushed peanuts and plum sauce (gfo)
Smoked Cheshire cheese, leek and mustard croquette with spiced apple & pear relish and sugared walnuts (v)

Main Course

Traditional roast turkey with pork, sage and chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets, bread sauce, roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables (gfo)
Slow braised feather blade of beef with red wine and glazed shallot gravy, pancetta savoy cabbage, carrot & swede mash (gf)
Roasted pumpkin, butternut squash and wild mushroom Wellington with red wine and cranberry sauce, creamed spinach & truffled potato terrine (v, gfo)
Sake and ginger salmon with pak choi on a bed of stir fried vegetables and egg noodles in a chilli, soy, and garlic broth (gfo)
Roasted duck breast with king oyster mushrooms, honey & orange glazed figs, celeriac puree, tender stem broccoli, red wine sauce and crispy potatoes (gf)

All mains are served with buttered sprouts, cauliflower, carrots and broccoli.

Homemade Desserts

Traditional luxury Christmas pudding with brandy sauce (gfo)
Spiced orange and cranberry brulée with vanilla shortbread
Dark chocolate torte with white chocolate sauce, honeycomb, vanilla cream and shaved chocolate
Amaretti biscuit, custard and cherry jam trifle with candied pistachios
Selection of local cheese with festive chutney, oat biscuits, quince jelly and olive bread (£3.50 supplement)

Booking

Booking is required when dining from our Christmas menu.  Christmas bookings must be made by telephone or in person ONLY, they cannot be booked through our online system.  Please call 0151 336 3931 to check availability and book your table now.

Minimum party size – Minimum party size for those wishing to dine off our Christmas menu is 4 people.

Maximum party size – At Christmas we appreciate that a large percentage of our bookings are Christmas parties and therefore would normally have more than 6 people on a table.  Due to current government guidelines, we will happily take your booking in hope that things change by December 2020 however if the current guidelines still remain in place by then we will have to split the party onto tables of a maximum of 6 people.

A pre-order is required no less than 14 days before dining.  A non refundable deposit of £10 per head is required at the point of booking.  Please return the pre-order form to info@the-shiphotel.co.uk or pop it into the pub.

We will happily suggest some options for wines and champagnes if you would like to organise these in advance of your party, please just ask if you want some help choosing!
