Christmas Celebrations

December has arrived and Christmas is in the air!  Yes things will be a little different this year but we still want to bring the festivities to the Jug in the best way that we can.  Christmas is still going to be a time to relax, have fun and catch up with friends and family, just on a slightly smaller scale! So why not do all of this over a delicious meal?  With our festive guest ales, mulled wine and christmas treats, the Jug as always will have its Christmas sparkle in the atmosphere!

We are happily taking festive bookings under the new tier 2 rules of up to 6 people from one household or bubble inside and up to 6 people from mixed households outside. We won’t be requiring deposits or pre orders as we have done in the past years.  Best thing is to drop us email on info@the-shiphotel.co.uk or give us a ring on 0151 336 3931 and we’ll do our very best to try and accommodate you during the festivities…please note the festive menu can’t be booked online.

Our Christmas menu will run from Wednesday 2nd of December to Wednesday 30th December 2020 (excluding Christmas Day) alongside our normal menu.

Christmas Menu

Our 3 course Christmas menu has been carefully created to include some new and exciting dishes alongside the traditional Christmas favourites.

Starters

Confit duck leg croquette with warm piccalilli dressing, apple & celery salad
Curry spiced red lentil & coconut soup with onion bharjis ( v vg gf)
Smoked salmon muffin with crab & dill rillette, pickled cucumber & confit plum tomato
Sticky braised pig cheek with pickled onions, thyme rosti potatoes and mustard apple sauce (gf)
Red wine poached pear, grilled radicchio, radish, Stilton dressing & focaccia croutons (v vo gfo)

Main Course

Slow braised lamb shoulder with pressed potato & leek terrine, parsnip puree, smoked bacon savoy cabbage & red wine sauce (gf)
Roast turkey with all the trimmings-Roast potatoes, pancetta sprouts, sticky red cabbage, carrots & swede mash, pigs in blankets, sage & onion stuffing
Herb grilled plaice fillet with wild mushroom potato gnocchi, tender stem broccoli and lemon & parsley butter sauce
Butternut squash, tomato and sage risotto with spinach, walnuts and white truffle oil (gf v vgo)
Venison Cottage pie with grilled Parmesan and thyme potato, buttered kale, honey & grain mustard roasted root vegetables (gf)

Homemade Desserts

The Ship’s luxury spiced Christmas sponge pudding with cranberry & port preserve & brandy sauce
Mango and passion fruit and ginger fool with lemon shortbread (gfo)
Baileys and white chocolate cheesecake with mandarin compote & salted caramel ice cream
Cinnamon spiced toffee apple steamed pudding with honey glazed apple and English custard
Selection of cheeses with red onion & celery chutney, olive bread, oat biscuits & grapes (gfo) £2.50 supplement

2 courses – £20.95    3 courses – £25.95

Booking

Booking is required when dining from our Christmas menu.  Christmas bookings must be made by telephone or in person, they cannot be booked through our online system.  Please call 0151 336 3931 to check availability and book your table.

Maximum party size – Up to 6 people from one household or bubble.

We will not be taking pre orders or deposits this year.

Wines & Champagnes

We will happily suggest some options for wines and champagnes if you would like to organise these in advance of your party, please just ask if you want some help choosing!
