Our Gins

At The Ship we have a great selection of gins including the most recognisable tipples such as Gordon’s and Bombay along with some not so well known gins that we have tried, tested and loved!

Why not join us for a ‘Liverpool Gin’ served with watermelon and juniper berries, or a ‘Hendrick’s’ served with cucumber or even a ‘Gin Mare’ served with fresh basil leaves.

Each month we have a different recommended gin to try.  Take a look at the chalkboard behind the bar to see what this month’s tipple is!


Hunters Cheshire Gin – A premium gin based on a 300-year-old recipe. A sublime London Dry Gin which includes a unique blend of citrus botanicals and apples sourced from the company founder’s own orchard and the Norton Priory Gardens in the heart of Cheshire.

Liverpool Gin Original – Locally brewed from just over the river Mersey – A premium organic product. Crystalline in appearance and luscious in body, it gives intense juniper and complex, well-balanced botanical flavour over a rich cereal note with a bright citrus finish.

Liverpool Gin Valencia Orange – A rather sweet, juicy variation of Liverpool Gin’s classic recipe, combining their selection of organic botanicals (including angelica, citrus and coriander) with Valencia Orange.  Served with a slice of orange.

Liverpool Gin Rose –  Combines their award winning selection of organic botanicals (including angelica, citrus and coriander) with notes of fragrant roses.  Served with rose bud.

Bathtub Gin – An extraordinary gin, lightly tinted by the botanicals, and with a flavour which is both bold, and perfumed all at once.  Sure to be a hit with amateur and professional mixologists alike.  Packaged using brown paper, string and wax, the presentation puts us in mind of a Victorian apothecary!

Gin Mare – Alongside ‘traditional’ botanicals juniper, bitter orange peel, seville orange peel, lemon peel, cardamon, and coriander seed there are four that are not quite so common; Arbequina olives, basil, rosemary and thyme.  There is a lightness created by the citrus and basil with a savoury olive undertone that brings back memories of hot holidays abroad.  The savoury, herbal elements are immediately evident when tasting neat, with the rosemary again taking centre stage alongside the classic juniper backbone.

Caorunn Gin – Caorunn Gin is a fantastically crisp and fresh gin where the unique botanical mix create a product that is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

Opihr Gin – At England’s oldest gin distillery, the Master Distiller adds the exotic spices and botanicals gathered from around the world  to the copper pot still and creates Opihr, a unique gin with citrus notes balanced with earthy aromatics and warm, soft spices.

Hendricks – Distilled and bottled in Scotland, Hendrick’s is a super premium gin with a subtly different botanicals recipe that includes a unique infusion of rose petals and cucumber alongside more traditional botanical ingredients. Hendrick’s specializes in being different with a distinctive toffee-brown bottle that is reminiscent of an old fashioned apothecary’s bottle, a clever reference to gin’s medicinal origins.

Tanquary No. 10 – Launched in 2000, Tanqueray No. 10 is an exceptionally smootha nd fresh tasting gin.  Names after the number of the still (No.10) in which it is made, the superior taste is the result of its ingredients.  These include fruit botanicals such as fresh white grapefruits from Florida, whole limes from Mexico along with juniper, coriander and chamomile.

Sipsmith Gin – The quintessential expression of a classic, traditional London Dry Gin. Bold, complex and aromatic – smooth enough for a Martini, but rich and balanced, perfect for a G&T.

Plymouth Gin – Plymouth Gin has a great depth of flavour with deep earthy notes and a wonderfully fresh juniper and lemony bite. It has a slight sweetness with extraordinary concentration and complexity. No single botanical dominates the overall flavour. The finish is long and dry.

Gordon’s London Dry – Gordon’s London Dry gin is carefully distilled using a secret recipe. The distinctively refreshing taste comes from the finest handpicked juniper berries and a selection of other botanicals.

Bombay Saphire – Strong citrus nose, acidic lemon dominating. Good bit of alcohol notes in there too, along with some juniper. There’s a sweetness and a distinct floral fruity character in the background: bright and strongly aromatic that sets it apart especially from typical London Dry style gins.
